Capitals 4 - Senators 3 (OT): Brought to You by the Number...

1

A HUGE win for the Caps on Sunday. There is no truly relevant statistic. Early in the game the Caps and Olaf Kolzig were bad. Very bad. But then, the Capitals began to play their game and proceeded to come back and beat a very tough Ottawa team.

The number one is for Brent Johnson and more importantly for Glen Hanlon (for putting in Johnson). This is no knock on Olie. When your goaltender comes out and lets in some goals early, changing it up sends a wake-up call to the team. I'm sure once the Caps saw Johnny in net, they realized how badly they'd been playing.

Overall, that was the win for Washington. Coming back from a large deficit against a good team is the mark of a very good team. The Capitals have given themselves confidence and shown the hockey community that they can be for real, as evidenced by the latest power rankings coming.
